YAFRE

(Yet Another Football-Related Entry)

I can't help it. Strangely, football fever has taken hold of me, also. So here we go: At the end of the day, it's a game of two halves, right?

The great football nation England, cradle of the game, might not have been that successful in the last, say, forty years, at least regarding international competitions, but she is the clear unchallenged leader of the pack concerning football songs.

After masterpieces like You'll Never Walk Alone or Three Lions (Football's Coming Home), now they're at it again: The World At Your Feet and, even better, England by The Darkness' frontman Justin Hawkins, who now calls himself the British Whale. He has come up with an oeuvre that includes lines like "We fought them on the beaches, now we'll play them on the field" and mimics the tune of the German national anthem, replaced by "England, England, England", of course. You Germans out there, get it: This IS funny. Listen. Enjoy. Press the Play button

Sabine kindly reminded me that the song title of Football's Coming Home is of course Three Lions. I did not know you were such a football buff. Thanks, i have already corrected it. Feel free to comment publicly next time, it does not hurt ...
